    What does ‘no-alcohol/low-alcohol/non-alcoholic’ mean?

Simply put, it means that the delicious, satisfying and thirst quenching beverages we offer have been formulated to mirror the taste, look and feel of their alcoholic counterparts, but they’ve been made without alcohol or removed the alcohol and will not cause intoxication. We love the ritual and ceremony of a cocktail or a glass of wine, we love the experience of enjoying connection and communion with others - but we also want to celebrate the possibilities of living fully without feeling inebriated or intoxicated.

For further reference, you can filter products with the following:

Made without alcohol: products that never contained alcohol

0.0% Alcohol: products that may have contained alcohol at one point, but no longer do and the producer lists their product as having 0.0% ABV.

0.1% - 0.5%: these products contain trace amounts of alcohol up to 0.5%. We consider these products "low alcohol". This will not cause impairment and is similar to the levels found in Kombucha, due to the fermentation process. For those that are looking for products that are a clean 0.0% we would refer to those as "no alcohol" and you'll find them in the 0.0% alcohol category.

Dealcoholised: these products, mainly wine and beer, were crafted in traditional wine-making and beer-making processes, making them alcoholic first. Then, through an extra step, they slowly and carefully remove the ethanol. New technology preserves the flavour, aroma, body and nutrients of the products and encourages their full expression. Depending on the producer and their technology, trace amounts of alcohol may remain in the product.

What is the point of products that look, smell and taste like alcohol, but don’t contain alcohol?

At some point you may have realized that the most enjoyable part of ‘grabbing a drink’ has little to do with the alcohol itself. The experience of being in connection with others, sampling different ingredients, textures and flavours in beers, wines or cocktails is often the main draw. We’re offering a plethora of options to satisfy the craving for connection and belonging through beverages that will leave you feeling elevated and uplifted over tipsy and hungover.

How much sugar do these products contain?

Sugar on the mind. For those looking to keep a low sugar profile, please see our curated "low sugar" collection to shop all products that are below 7g of sugar per serving. Please refer to each individual product ingredient label pictured for full details and more information. Please reach out to us with questions.

How do you recommend drinking these beverages?

Please refer to each individual product that you are curious about for our favourite suggestions and recommendations on how they are best enjoyed. Many of the products we offer like beer and wine are intended to be consumed as is, and our spirits and mixers can be enjoyed in a number of different ways; we look forward to hearing more about your favourite ways to enjoy them!

How do I store my products? Do they need to be refrigerated?

You’ll find that many beverages, like beer, sparkling wines and ready-to-drink products are best enjoyed nice and cold. Once opened, please consume within the time frame listed on the packaging and ensure drinks that require refrigeration are stored according to package instructions. Just like any other product, it’s best to keep your products in cool, dry spaces in your home, and it’s best to keep them away from direct heat and light. If you are going to use the freezer to cool your beverages, be sure to take them out promptly, as unlike higher % alcoholic products, they will freeze.

What is the difference between a "best before" date and an "expiry date"?

Best Before Date BBD: This tells you how long a product will keep it's best taste, aroma and texture when stored properly. It's about quality, not safety. Foods and drinks are usually still safe after this date, though the flavour may gradually change.

Expiry Date: This appears only on certain products like baby formula, or nutritional supplements where safety or nutrient content cannot be guaranteed after the date. Once expired the product should not be consumed.

Non-Alcoholic Wine does not an expiry date, it's a shelf-stable product.

Why is it okay if my non-alcoholic wine doesn't have a Best Before Date?

Our wineries have confirmed that they're alcohol-free wine maintains it's quality and is safe to drink for several years when stored in the right conditions.

    • The wine is heat-treated during dealcoholisation to prevent spoilage.
    • Sealed glass bottles protect it from air and contaminants.
    • Over time, wine may age (for the better) and is still safe to enjoy.

Why does the CFIA allow non-alcoholic wine to be sold without a Best Before Date in Canada?

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) only requires a Best Before Date if:

    • The unopened product will keep it's quality for 90 days or less, or
    • The product's safety could be affected after a certain date

Because non-alcoholic wine is shelf stable for well over 90 days and does not become unsafe after that time, the CFIA states a BBD is not required.

How can I feel confident that my non-alcoholic is safe to drink?

Here's why you can feel reassured:

    • Trusted Supplier: We source from wineries that meet rigorous quality and food safety standards.
    • Sealed Protection: Bottles are airtight until you open them.
    • No Short Shelf Life: The wine remains safe for years under proper storage (cool, away from direct sunlight).
    • Clear Traceability: We have lot numbers which allows us to trace every bottle back to production.
    • Industry Oversight: All products comply with Canadian food safety laws.

Who are these beverages for/who can consume these products?

The beauty of non-alcoholic and alcohol-free beverages is that they are safe for consumption by most age groups. Though our products are intended for use by adults, we’ll let you decide who in your family or group of friends will have the best experience enjoying beverages offered by Sansorium. Our best recommendation is to check with a trusted healthcare practitioner if you have any questions regarding who should consume these beverages or have any questions regarding any of the specific ingredients listed.

Can I consume these beverages if I am pregnant, attempting to conceive or breastfeeding?

You know your body best and though these products are non-alcoholic and alcohol-free, it is our best recommendation to consult with a trusted healthcare practitioner should you have any questions regarding any of the specific ingredients listed in any of the beverages.

Are these products safe to consume while taking medication?

While these products are low-to-no alcohol and will not cause impairment, it’s always a best practice to consult with a trusted healthcare practitioner about your specific medical condition if you are unsure or have any questions regarding specific ingredients listed in any of these beverages.

Are your shipping packaging materials recyclable?

We have chosen to use corrugated boxes, kraft paper, honeycomb wrapping paper and recycled corrugated pulp and where necessary recycled and recyclable bubble wrap to protect your products during shipment. In the winter, we may use insulated materials to protect packages going across the country. Finding more recyclable insulation has been hard to source, but we are always sourcing.
